Amherst Town Clerk Francina J. Spoth is reminding residents that school taxes are due on or before Oct. 15, 2025 and has announced alternative methods for tax collection. “There are several contactless options to pay school taxes: By mail, secure drop box, and online,” Spoth said. Online payment (processing fees apply) by e-check, credit and debit cards can be made at www.amherst.ny.us. In person, the Clerk’s Office accepts cash, checks, money orders, credit and debit cards (credit and debit cards have a processing fee). Mailed payments must be postmarked on or before Oct. 15, 2025 to avoid penalties. “Providing several payment methods and additional hours for collection are just a couple of ways of making the Clerk’s Office user friendly. It gives our residents an opportunity to pay their taxes outside of traditional methods and office hours,” Spoth stated. Current office hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. The Amherst Municipal Building will be closed Monday, Oct. 13. The Town Clerk’s Office is located in Amherst Municipal Building, 5583 Main St., Williamsville. 811 is the national call-before-you-dig phone number. Anyone who plans to dig should call 811 or go to their state 811 center’s website a few business days before digging to request that the approximate location of buried utilities be marked with paint or flags so that you don’t unintentionally dig into an underground utility line. 811 protects you and your community! Hitting a buried line while digging can disrupt utility service, cost money to repair, or cause serious injury or death. Always contact your 811 center, wait the required time for utilities to respond to your request, and ensure that all utilities have responded to your request before putting a shovel in the ground.Boards & Committees
